![]() Then I'll do things like grapple fling my prawn suit out into the void, and make it to the 8000m depth to get teleported back up into the map - just to truly see that is a thing. I build bases under leviathans that people make posts about being unable to progress in the game, because it's simply in their way to moving through a cave. I just stay mobile, zig zag, and don't care. Sometimes it silently rips through my peripheral vision, having narrowly missed me. Once I get a seaglide I'll go collect blueprints and all the loot boxes behind the aurora not giving a care about the leviathan hunting me. It has long ago lost 99.9% of it's scare factor. Dunno if it was a fair trade, but the experience made me paranoid about Ghost Leviathans and especially about how far away I am from home.I really enjoyed the game, and replay it. I'd worked on my base, unlocked new blueprints, scanned new lifeforms, dropped beacons at interesting locations! All gone.īut, I still had my Cyclops, and my Seamoth. They're on me and before I know it I'm swimming, My Seamoth just disappeared like tissue paper in a bonfire.Īll I can see is glowing blue around me. I barely give my lockers full of supplies a thought, hoping the dead Cyclops will occupy the Ghost Leviathans. I run back to my docked seamoth and punch out just before the Cyclops takes another round of damage and goes down. Another hit and a Ghost clips through the ship a bit and I know the Cyclops is a lost cause. And I hit standard, deciding I'll try and pulse flank and standard and try to ride just under overheat. I give standard maybe 5 seconds before i hit flank again. ![]() I hear the warning about excessive heat and slow down to standard only to take a hit and then another hit, I see maybe 3 Ghost Leviathans around me. This is when I realize I am very far from home and may not make it back alive. How far out am I? Most of beacons are an overlapping mess. As i run at I high speed across the surface, I realize I can't see the Aurora. I pay it no mind and go straight for flank, trying to reorient myself to my base beacon. I get back inside my Cyclops and power on the engine, the start-up sequence seems to take forever. My mind is racing why did it chase me to the surface! And then I see the glow separate, there are two, maybe more of them! I'm fixing up my last leak when I see the glow below. An extinguisher and 2 medkits later, I check the damage board to identify where the leaks are and jump out to tackle them. ![]() I breath a sigh of relief as the surface comes into view and shut down the engine and tend to the fires inside. I crank the speed up to flank and slowly the blip on sonar begins falling away until it's gone. There is water pouring in, the ship is listing to one side and fire! Smoke is making it hard to see. I hop back in my Cyclops power the engine on full and begin ascending at standard to get out of there, taking several more attacks on the way up. I jumped out to do a quick repair, thinking that was it and while looking for the damaged spot the Ghost Leviathan attacked again. Ghost came right at me and banged on my hull. So I hit silent running, headed up a bit, and cut the engine, hoping it would go away. I saw a glimmer of blue and got excited, a new creature or maybe a new Biome was about to open up before me, and then I saw the ping on my sonar: Hostile! I missed the notification due to watching a movie and so was just descending and moving forward into the black looking for something, anything. Only thing I knew for certain was from then on I would never visit that hell hole ever again.įirst time I hit the edge, I had been exploring with my Cyclops and gotten turned around and lost. I only managed to escape by keeping my seamoth constantly repaired, and my fear of deep dark ocean water reached its extreme on that day. It was then I knew I had to get the fuck out of there, so I hightailed it straight up. And then, out of the blue, a second one started attacking me. I was maybe 700m down and was trying to escape for dear life, but a part of me wanted to scan the beast too, so I tried that. It scared me so much and left me shaking because I hadn't seen or heard it approaching, and thought maybe it spawned directly ontop of me. Then all of my dreams were crushed when an enormous ghost snake dragon thing spawned ontop of me and started destroying my seamoth. When I travelled down through the dark depths of the void I thought I would find something amazing at the bottom. Keep in mind, I hadn't seen or heard of a ghost leviathan existing. Then I found the crater's edge, and the pda told me exploration was ill-advised, but I thought nothing could stop me. I explored around the lowest depths I could find. ![]() After getting my seamoth depth module mk3, I thought I was invincible. ![]()
